Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ECOMMERCETOOL.IO ("we", "us", "the app"), a free browser-based utility suite for e-commerce sellers operated by an independent developer based in India, handles information when you use the website and web app at ecommercetool.io. It also explains exactly which Google user data the optional Google Sheets sync feature accesses, how that data is used, stored, shared and protected, and how you can delete it.
1Overview — how the app handles your data
ECOMMERCETOOL.IO is a local-first web app. We do not operate an account system, a backend server for your records, or a database that receives your business data.
- Your business data stays in your browser. Products, costs, orders, dispatches, returns, inventory, settlements and settings are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. We never receive them.
- No sign-up. You do not need an account or password to use the app.
- Google Sheets sync is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, data moves directly between your browser and Google's servers, into a spreadsheet in your own Google account. It never passes through a server we operate.
Our commitment: we do not sell, rent or share your data, and we cannot see your business records or your Google Sheets.
2Information we collect
2.1 Information we do not collect
- The business records you enter (products, orders, dispatches, returns, inventory, GST/tax figures, settlements, invoices, labels, customer or buyer details).
- Your business name, address, GSTIN or contact details entered in Settings or on invoices.
- Any data from your Google account or Google Sheets. When you use Google Sheets sync, that data is handled only inside your browser (see Section 3).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Web hosting logs. Our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information when your browser requests a page — such as IP address, browser type, requested page and time — to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose errors. These logs do not contain your business records.
- Advertising cookies. Google AdSense may set cookies on public pages that show ads (see Section 6).
- We do not use a separate analytics or tracking service, and we do not build user profiles.
3Google user data (optional Google Sheets sync)
Google Sheets sync lets you back up the records stored in your browser to a Google Sheet that you own, and restore them later (for example on another device). You start it yourself from Settings → Google Sheets Cloud Sync. Google shows its own consent screen before any access is granted, and we never see your Google password.
3.1 Permissions requested and the data accessed
| Permission (scope) | Google user data accessed | Why |
|---|---|---|
| https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file | Only the spreadsheet files that this app creates or that you choose to use with it; plus the name and email address of the connected Google account (read through Google Drive's "about" endpoint). | To create a new backup spreadsheet in your Drive, and to show you which Google account is connected ("Signed in as …"). |
| https://www.googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets | The title, tab names and cell contents of the one spreadsheet you link or create. | To write your records into that spreadsheet when you click Push, and read them back when you click Pull. |
The app only opens the single spreadsheet you link or create. It does not read your other spreadsheets or Drive files, and it does not request access to Gmail, Calendar, Contacts or any other Google service.
3.2 How we use Google user data
Google user data is used only to provide the sync feature you can see in the app:
- showing the email address of the connected Google account;
- creating your backup spreadsheet, or opening the one you link;
- writing your locally stored records (Products, Orders, Dispatches, Returns, Settlements, Settings) to it when you click Push;
- reading those records back into your browser when you click Pull, after showing you a confirmation.
Every sync is started by you and confirmed by you. Nothing is synced automatically in the background. We do not use Google user data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose other than this feature.
3.3 How Google user data is stored and protected
- Access token: issued by Google Identity Services and kept only in your browser's memory for the current session. It is never written to disk or sent to us, and it expires automatically (normally within one hour) or when you disconnect.
- Saved on your device only: the connected account's email address, the spreadsheet ID and title, and the time of your last sync are saved in this browser's local storage so the Settings page can show your connection. They are never sent to us.
- Spreadsheet contents: stay in your own Google Drive, under your Google account's control.
- Protection: all requests go directly from your browser to Google over encrypted HTTPS (TLS). We run no server that could store or log this data, and we request only the two permissions listed above.
3.4 Sharing of Google user data
We do not share, sell, rent or transfer Google user data to anyone. The only transfers that happen are the direct requests your browser makes to Google's own APIs to perform the sync you asked for. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or AI providers, and no person at ECOMMERCETOOL.IO can access it.
3.5 Your control, revocation and deletion
- Disconnect: Settings → Google Sheets Cloud Sync → Disconnect revokes the app's access token and clears the in-memory session.
- Revoke at Google: remove ECOMMERCETOOL.IO at any time from your Google Account's Third-party apps & services page.
- Delete the backup: delete the spreadsheet from your Google Drive. Disconnecting does not delete it, because it belongs to you.
- Delete what is saved in your browser: use the reset options in Settings → Data Management, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. This removes the saved email address, spreadsheet ID/title and all locally stored records.
4Limited Use disclosure
ECOMMERCETOOL.IO's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Read the Google API Services User Data Policy. In particular:
- We use Google user data only to provide and improve the user-facing Google Sheets backup and restore feature described above.
- We do not transfer Google user data to others, except as needed to provide that feature, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with notice to you.
- We do not use or transfer Google user data to serve advertisements, including personalised ads.
- We do not sell Google user data, or use it to determine credit-worthiness or for lending.
- No human reads Google user data unless you give affirmative consent for specific data (for example, when you send it to us for support), it is needed for security purposes, or it is required by law.
- We do not use Google user data, including data from Google Workspace APIs such as Google Sheets and Google Drive, to develop, improve or train generalised or non-personalised artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
5Installable app (PWA) and offline storage
ECOMMERCETOOL.IO can be installed as a Progressive Web App. Your browser's Cache API and a service worker store the app's own files (code, styles, icons) on your device so workspace pages open offline. This cache contains no business records and no Google user data, and nothing is sent to us.
6Advertising (Google AdSense)
To keep the tools free, ECOMMERCETOOL.IO shows third-party ads from Google AdSense on public pages such as the home page, blog articles, the gallery, the free tools and some workspace pages.
- Cookies: Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and opt out of personalised ads at Google Ad Settings.
- Ad-free pages: ads are never shown on the Dashboard or on legal pages (this Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, Terms & Services). They are currently also not shown on the Orders, Products, Settings and Data Import pages, and no ads load while you are offline.
- Separation from your data: the app never places your business records or any Google user data in page addresses or ad requests, and never sends them to Google AdSense or advertisers. Ad requests contain only standard technical information (such as the page address, browser type and cookies) as described in Google's policies.
7Data retention and deletion
- On your device: records stay in your browser until you delete them (Settings → Data Management, or by clearing the site's data). You can export a JSON backup at any time.
- In your Google Drive: a synced spreadsheet stays until you delete it. Revoking access (Section 3.5) stops the app from opening it.
- With us: we keep no copy of your business records or Google user data, because we never receive them. Hosting logs are kept only as long as our hosting provider needs them for security and operation.
- Deletion requests: you can email myofficialbusiness27@gmail.com at any time. We will reply within 30 days and help you remove any data related to you.
8Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Google sign-in uses Google's own secure OAuth flow, the access token is never stored on disk, and we keep no server-side copy of your data. Because your records live on your device and, optionally, in your Google account, please keep your device, browser and Google account secure (for example with a strong password and 2-Step Verification).
9Your choices and rights
You control your data directly: you can view, edit, export or delete your records in the app, disconnect Google Sheets sync, and revoke Google access at any time. If you have a privacy request or complaint — including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or other laws that apply to you — contact us using the details in Section 12.
10Children's privacy
ECOMMERCETOOL.IO is a business tool for e-commerce sellers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when features or legal requirements change. We will update the "Last updated" date above. If we change how the app accesses or uses Google user data, we will update this page before the change takes effect and, where required, ask for your consent again through Google's consent screen.
